A stone’s throw from the white sands of Newport’s famous beaches, the coastline transforms, pristine dunes succumbing to the rugged beauty of the rocky shoreline. When they first visited the property, our clients knew they had found the site of their future home. At the southern tip of Aquidneck Island with views overlooking Sachuest Point, the breathtaking setting captivated them from the start.
However, there was a problem. The existing home not only didn’t meet our client’s needs, its layout and design didn’t take advantage of the stunning views or honor the coastal landscape. It would take a major overhaul to transform the seaside retreat.
Our client’s goal was to create a home that seamlessly blended sophistication and comfort with the raw beauty of the coast. Alongside architect Paul Weber and landscape architect TL Studio, we were able to guide our client through the processes of creating their oceanfront sanctuary, balancing relaxation and refinement in a home that would suit their growing family for generations to come.
After exploring the options, our clients decided their best course of action would be to demolish the existing structure and start anew. With Taste at their side for every step of the process, the clients embarked on a rebuild that would be a true reflection of their style, support their love of entertaining, and pay homage to the surroundings.
Together with architect Paul Weber, we developed a plan, inviting natural light and ocean views into every corner of the new home. The client wanted the interior to evoke a sense of tranquility and connection to the environment while also showcasing their estimable art collection. Alongside Patti Watson, Senior Designer Wendi Dicely-Scalora conceptualized spaces specifically dedicated to displaying the client’s art in a way that felt natural, comfortable, and refined. Taste Designer Abby Langan layered on color, pattern, and texture, resulting in a home that delights with each turn as yet another treasured piece of art is revealed, unfolding with meaning and intent.
Sun-bleached hues and neutral tones are met with organic textures and warm wood elements to evoke a deep sense of comfort, serenity, and sophistication. The effect is soothing and rejuvenating. Walking in, you have the feeling that this home is good for the soul.
In the end, this oceanfront home is itself a work of art, a masterpiece that celebrates the convergence of art, tranquility, and the untamed beauty of the New England coast.
